In Haemoglobin A1c the reference interval is given without the assay. Since the interval is method-dependent, stating it bare makes it look more universal than it is. A merge of Counterfeit peptide into Haemoglobin A1c has been proposed. My own view is that they are separate subjects with separate failure modes and should stay separate, but I am not confident enough to close it. Adding dead space to the worked example in Insulin syringe closed a gap that had been quietly wrong for a year — the doses-per-vial figure had been assuming a syringe that loses nothing.
